Pareora at Evans Crossing
The River Pareora rises in the limestone Hunter Hills of South Canterbury, has its confluence with the Little Pareora above the gorge near Motukaika, and flows into the Pacific Ocean at Pareora south of Timaru. It is seen here immediately below the gorge at Evans Crossing. In all but the worst weather a car can safely negotiate the crossing. You can click on the pictures to see them better in a lightbox.
